I'm listening to Rascal Flatts, I don't know why, a month ago I thought it was like nails on a chalkboard. It really grew on me, still don't know if the lead singer is a chick or a dude yet, i'll get it eventually.

You careen through life at a break neck pace, barely able to get a glimpse of the roses we're trying to smell, trying to savor their sweet fragrance, but no matter how amazing the smell, all we seem to remember are the thorns that pierced us acquiring it.

I thought of that, I like it. It's emo-ie but it has a distinct ring of truth to it. The time between this post and the previous one has run it's toll on me. I've become a better, wiser, person. I've made some pretty big changes in my life. Many of my friends that at least used to frequent here are framiliar with them.

I feel now my life is at a cross-roads. To make some decisions that have been haunting me since my birth, others that have been haunting me for a much shorter time. So to you my last dear reader, I shall finally share my only life regrets.

When I was 18 I had lauded about my enlistment into the USAF. I had passed the ASVAB, cleared my Med check and was getting processed for boot. My hopeful careers were "Nuclear Weapons Technician" and "Crew Master." I'm not going to lie to you guys, I really really wanted to play with the big bombs. When "The list" came out that showed the needs of the USAF that year, NWT and CM were nowhere to be found. My 3rd Choice, "Security Ops," was in high demand however. So I backed out, I was nothing short of a fucking coward. I would have been just peachy with Security Ops, but I used the lack of NWT as an excuse not to join. That decision has haunted me from the second I made it. I can still hear the disappointment in my recruiters voice when I called him.

I only have one other regret, and at the risk of sounding Cliche' i'm going to run with it anyway.

Yes, every single guy has "lost someone" they never had. No matter what your man tries to tell you, there was another that probably still troubles him. I was there, I had the opportunity to just fucking say it, and I blew it, I bit my tounge and said what I should have said, not what I wanted to. EVERY night, no matter where I am, the last thing I say before I fall into the sister of death that is sleep, I think "Why didn't I tell her?" My mind always answers "Because you're a fucking coward."

Now we come to what's commonly reffered to as, "The Point." Remeber when I mentioned that we dwell on the thorns of life? Well, enlisting in the USAF was an incredible experience that gave me a huge insight into military life, all the hopes of leaving the state to pursue something greater than myself, but what do I remember from that experience?

Or her? I was honored to have even met her, let alone spend what little time there was together as friends, and with her all the time in the world still wasn't enough. It was awesome and I still have memories I wouldn't exchange for the world, but what do I remember?

When I couldn't just say "I'm in love with you."

So here I stand at my cross-roads. I've made my decision. I need to prove to myself that I am capable. Recently I made a large decision to go Marines, it was a decision I had been toying with for the past couple years but I finally said to myself it was time to shit or get off the pot, so last week I called the Officer Recruiter in Minneapolis and arranged a meeting to meet and get the paper work spooling. With this I can finally serve my country as I had originally intended, and prove to myself that I am a man. A lot of people think i'm going to back out and I don't blame them, hell i'm going through the same jitters I did back when I was 18. To be honest though I am very firm in this decision, the only things that would stop me from going are being let go because of a medical issue...

A ring on my finger from her, and i'd make whatever sacrafice necessary to keep her happy, even if it meant my own. I think it's time though for me to realize that that train has long since left the staiton, as if it were even there in the first place. These dilemmas in my life have forced me to try to live without regrets! It's been fantastic thus far, i've become more outgoing but I won't be pure and ready for life until I truly shed them, so here goes.

So what are my excuses now, well i'm still insanely behind on my flight template, it's finals week, oh and my girlfriend of 4 years left me for another guy (Dyke). Not that I care, because today the worst thing ever happened to me today...

So I didn't do to hot on the last aviation exam, the HSI whooped my ass up and down the stairs. So like the good Aviation student I am, I go in for my retake. While that might not sound very exciting, here, I'll liven things up a bit.

If I don't get at least a C on the retake I have to repeat the entire course.

Well thats not really a big deal, I can handle this, I step into his office politely ask if he's available now, says sure thing, hands me the retake and invites me to sit down and take it at his desk. I happily oblige, because I have nothing to worry about, I spent the better part of the night studying the HSI and situational awareness, at least 3 hours total. I can read them backwards, forwards, in the dark and with a monkey on my back, an angry one. So i'm not worried in the least bit, I sit down, look over the test and that's when my heart lept into my throat and then back down into my stomach where it drilled a hole through my spleen.

It was 10 questions.....multiple choice.

Not a single damn HSI interpretation question. Granted I read through the rest of the material, but that accounted for probably about 20-15% of my study time. So here's where i'm sitting at, I've got 10 questions to answer, can only get 2 wrong, pretty much didn't study any of this and if I don't rock this out i'm taking summer school....oh joy.

First 3 questions, BAM BAM BAM, instant easy Q's. 5 more and i'm rocking the casba. I fill out the 4th with a little bit of hesitation, then rock on and hit 4 more, BAM BAM BAM BAM. Hell i've got a shot at this. What are the last 2? Oh simple true and false, but i've seen these before, I had them on the last test! OMG!!!! I got the first one wrong and then 2nd one right!!! EASY A!

So what did I put the first time?

The party in my head just came to a grinding fucking hault. I could not remember what I put the first time. So was the first one true and the 2nd one false? or were they both false? or both true? Well now my heart was beating so fast I couldn't discern the beats from one another. This was it, my summer, my career, in 3 minutes or less. I hastily picked True and True. Turned it over and looked over all my answers, I couldn't afford a mistake here, obviously. I made the motion to turn it into him, stopped....

I changed 3 Answers, all 3 of the ones I was questioning, the 4th one and the last 2. The last 2 now being false and false. I passed it to him across his desk, my heart was beating so fast I thought i'd go into cardiac arrest, bust out the paddles and apply the juice, we're gonna need to shock this kid. He looked it over quickly, then reached into his desk to grab his red pen. It's alright, we have to break a few eggs to make an oml-.......

He just marked the 3rd one wrong.

One of my for sure answers, was just marked wrong....All I can think of now is that I hope my Dad leaves a little bit of my face intact for Mom after he disembowels me and chokes me with my own intestines. I'm gonna die, I don't wanna go to Bismarck tomorrow. He continued the march of the red pen...past the first one I was questioning, talk about saved by gut, the change paid off. Now I just need to get one of those last 2 right and i'll be home free, maybe it's not so bad. He flipped it, looked it over then flipped it back over. I DID IT!!!! and only 1 wrong! Oh shit he just flipped it back over.

150 JOULES, CLEAR!!! *application of the paddles*

He ran his pen over my answers of the last 2 quickly, read them over, then flipped it back to the front, "Good job, only 1 wrong, don't forget the final tomorrow at 10:15!"

My heart has now exploded, because it hurts, ALOT, what else could it be? I somehow stumble out of the office, and make my way towards the exit and my car...well at least I don't need to study block 5 for the final! I definitely don't need to go through that again.

Wow that only took a few days.

This was coming up the day of the shooting, Gun Control, seriouly guys, they haven't even finished carving the gravestones, calm down.

Personally if some students had been armed perhaps the body count would have been far more minimal, also if gun control had been slightly more strict then maybe he wouldn't have been able to get a hold of the guns he had.

All I know is it's a little soon, pray for the families, pray for the dead, we can discuss this later.

Iranians...crazy or misunderstood?

By now you've probably heard that the captured British sailors will be released by the Iranian government. Who knows why, they claimed it was an "Easter present" to the British people, and good for them.

Part of me can't help but wonder if this is just a ploy put on by the Iranians to gain favor for their nuclear program on the world stage. Another thinks that Tehran genuniely wants to be viewed better period. In the end though it was definitely a good move, and smart, we'll have to see how this unfolds.

College students think they are "speical"

Well not really.

I see this but it's not as big of deal here, probably because this is the upper midwest. I can see how it's much more prevelant in more liberal states. Why? Well perhaps teaching kids that they're always right makes them actually think they are. OMFG!!!! Another shocker. Our school system is getting to the point, in fact in many systems it already is, where students are never wrong. I've heard some teachers gripe how they can't even mark wrong answers on spelling tests. Couple that with anytime a kid trips and skins his knee his parents are dragged in for "Negligence/Abuse" what have you. It all adds up to a dismal future generation.

Perhaps we should start treating kids like....kids. Not other adults. This is why I worry about the future....

I've been against a minimum wage increase for sometime. When you increase the wage employers cut hours and hire less employees, oh and raise prices. Liberals NEED to raise the wage, why?

Gee, it’s almost like minimum wage laws hurt the very people they’re supposed to help by raising them right out of a job. Conservatives have been saying this for decades, but what the hell do we know? And, ultimately, raising the minimum wage isn’t really supposed to do anything for the poor, it’s to make liberals feel better about themselves. That’s the primary motivating force behind pretty much everything liberals do, their pathological need to congratulate themselves for how wonderful and compassionate they are.

Lee, despite his faults, certainly hits one every now and again which is why I keep stopping by every so often. With minimum wage he summed up my feelings so well it's as if I were writing them.

As many of you know I attend, a World Class Flight School. Because of this, I'm surrounded by USAF ROTC cadets. Seriously, these guys....are the biggest bunch of idiots i've ever met in my life. Need a stupid and pointless question to be asked? Call on me! The Academy reject. Any long time readers of this blog know i'm one of the biggest supporters of our military. I agree with the program, and I respect them and give them kudos for signing up. Seriously though, no common sense whatsoever.

With that having been said, San Francisco is at it again.

Banning the JRTOC program in high schools? You have got to be effin kidding me. Only in San Francisco will you find bullshit like this. The quotes are golden, here's my favorites.

Yup..... Need I remind you this is the city that banned handguns. A Shocker, I know.

Opponents said the armed forces should have no place in public schools, and the military's discriminatory stance on gays makes the presence of JROTC unacceptable.

You can't make this stuff up folks. As long as the school is receiving public tax dollars the military is more than allowed to set up camp. You don't want the military there? Find your own damn money. End of discussion. This is my favorite quote however...

Myself and others within my blogroll (JJ comes to mind) have been screaming for years about the importance of saying "Fuck political correctness." How it screws everyone over and a politically correct society has no society. Only bland nothingness, a generic acceptable culture to "all beliefs and faiths." Now those Politically correct douche bags have finally gone and fucking done it.

They've removed a cross from a chapal altar fearing it would offend those of a non-christian nature.

The chapal was that of a college, it's used for many student events both secular and religious. Most quoted said they disagreed with the move and that they were never offended. Here's my favortie part though...

Second-year Engineering student Ilgaz Toros, a practicing Muslim, agreed.

Our college newspaper is a liberal rag comaparable only to the Daily Kos. No surprise.

We got to the game extra early (5 pm) and the doors weren't even open yet. But once they did, we made a quick dash to a SRO spot in right field. It was a great vantage point, and we could see the whole field. Before the game started, the bullpen was warming up on the field.

Then the star pitcher for the night, Jeff Weaver, came out and threw some pitches to Yadier Molina. Weaver did surprisingly well on Friday. I remember commenting that you can never be too sure how the game will go when Weaver is pitching.

Ok, so let me get this straight....

When the military fires on a group of Terrorists at "a wedding" or various other social gathering, they're monsters that slaughter civilians to get their rocks off and take bets on how many orphans they can make, but there's double points for killing just orphans.

But when they DON'T fire on a group of terrorists at "a funeral" they're idiots for passing up such a sweet target. When does it end?

Don't get me wrong, i'm as pissed as the author of the article, but I certainly wasn't up in arms over other attacks that were "horrible incidents of civilian casualties." It's so easy being conservative cause you don't need to continually change your views to fit the situation, it's great I tell you.

Sorry for the lack of updates, but my computer took a nosedive, unlucky for me it happened to be my bloggin' computer. So now i'm writing posts on my fancy "Aviation Laptop."

Speaking of Aviation my slipping into bankruptcy has finally hit me as so far into my flight training i've accumulated a debt of about 1000 dollars. Yay. Only 7k to go and i'll be a private pilot!!!

But there's better news a foot. Some of you may remember last year when I took 3 tests and beat the living shit out all 3 of them with A's a piece. This year was even better however...

I just took my first aviation exam, not only did I get an A, but when he wrote the High/Low/Average on the board, you'll never guess whose score was the High, oh wait, maybe you will, because I AM that good. So in honor me being the best out of about 35 kids, I give you an age old tradition, be blowing My Aviation exam clear out of the sky. (Note to any sensitive types this SATIRE)

The Irony...it REEKS.

Since that's an age old tradtion....and tomorrows Thursday....I just might have to bring back ANOTHER age old tradition of Cashins Rants, oh yea, that one. *insert winky face*

A lot of friends that went to UND last year have told me that it's pretty amazing that a "North Dakotan" is acutally going into the aviation program at the "University of North Dakota." None of them were flight majors, so I took their "comment" like a grain of salt. For god's sakes its North Dakota!!! Who's going to travel 1000s of miles to go here?

Today I stand corrected, When the Flight Instructor asked...

"Who here is from North Dakota?"

Myself and one guy from Grand Forks put our arms in the air, the only ones of about 25 students. Talk about a wake up call.

A short list of the states other students said they were from;

Minnesota
South Dakota
Nebraska
Montana
Wisconscin
Illinois
Vermont
New Hampshire
New York
California
Colorado
Oklahoma
Florida
South Carolina
Pennsylvania

This was all I could remember, it equates to a little over half the class. Minnesota was the leader though, with about 4 students. Each of the other states only had about 1 or 2 representing.

Talk about cool!!! Going to UND for aviation is like going to Harvard for Law. You all should be pretty damn proud of me. Not like it was hard to get in or anything.

I'm so pumped to fly I can barely contain my excitement.

Yesterday I spent my first few dollars on my flight training, behold...

This purchase marks the beginning of my flight career and probably one of the biggest steps forward in my life. That having been said I have lots of night classes and lots of hours working so I might not be able to post as much, but i'll still try and post during a few of my many hours spent in the lobby of Odegard studying.

One things that's really slowed down is i'm only able to check my favorite blogs (JJ, AoM, R-T, and SA) twice a day instead of several! I'm taking it pretty hard. I'd also like to thank everyone that leaves such nice comments in some of my posts, and to those of you that continue to visit but don't leave comments....well at least you're here. Though I shouldn't really talk as I never seem to comment on those previously listed blogs. Perhaps that will be my "New-Half-Year Resolution," actually comment. One more apology, this post was kind of sappy, i'll have more of my trademark smart ass posts coming, until then!

I actually have one more apology to make, i'm sorry for what i'm about to confess.

It was Sara Jensen.

My most recent, and probably last post, was referring to Sara. Now the biggest question of all is probably the why? Why Sara? and why not give her name out in the original post?

My friends frequent this blog pretty heavily as I found out, despite having not updated in almost a year, a friend had discovered my post in only a week's time. If I were to confess that it were her, to be honest, I would have never heard the end of it. But the biggest reason was that I didn't want to risk the friendship, not Jon's, I could give 2 fucks about Jon's, but Sara's is a little more valuable, indeed, exponentially more valuable. Had I confessed that, it would have without a doubt compromised our friendship. If you didn't catch it from the original post, I cherish it quite a bit. Which leads to my next point...

Why Sara? I've never been beaten by a woman in a full blown debate before. Sara has, and she's done it well. I love to argue and relish it, she apparently does as well. On that same note she has the tendency to one up me on my ridiculously witty and genius comments, if that were possible. Actually...it is, and Sara has done it, though i'll never admit it, at least not outside this post that's for damn sure. She fucking dominated my face in, with the infamous "WBS" Debate on MySpace. I could barely formulate a point, and as soon as I did *-*BAM*-* my face was kicked in with a superior argument. Sara is the first woman i've been attracted to not on a physical level but on an intelectual one, every chick i've ever met was pretty much "Damn that's a fine ass," but with Sara it was "Holy shit, that was a genius and well thought out point." It's also worth noting I refer to every chick as...chick, cunt, bitch, or whore. My friends probably don't notice, but I go out of my way to refer to Sara by her name or by "a woman." She seems to deserve the distinction. There are literally a thousand other reasons, but I could not possibly do that for fear of busting into the "Creepy" factor.

So when did you want to confess? At the first curbside chat. Seeing Sara cry in the glow of the street lights tugged at my heart harder than many other things have, I wanted to comfort her and hold her close to make her feel as safe as she was and try to make the tears stop. But why didn't I? Well I wasn't fully attracted to Sara, she was still kind of my roommates girlfriend who was super cool, these feelings didn't actually hit me until I was chasing after her from the apartment balcony. I wanted to say what I was feeling but knew it was out of place, and thus, never did.

Why are you explaining this now, in this post? Oh that's the million dollar question. Here's the thing, Sara is now single, not only is she single, she became single the same night I did when my relationship fell apart. It's almost as if God was pushing us together, heh, I wish. Because the divine is exactly what it's going to take to get us together, thus why i'm writing this post. I'm not stupid enough to believe that Sara and I have a chance, I certainly HOPE there is one, but I don't expect it. Writing this TRUE confession is what it may take to get me over her...again. I'll be seeing Sara date pretty soon, not really looking forward to that. It almost makes me regret not going to OCS this year rather than next. But I pushed it off because I was hoping maybe i'd get that one date with Sara this summer, and as soon as I realized what I was hoping for I knew I had to write this post, to encourage me to move on before the hurt even begins.

If you happen to be one of my tottally awesome friends please let me know you've read this with a text or a call with the code word "Monkey Foot" at least then I can prepare for the fall out before it hits me. If Sara happens to be the first to discover this, well, like I said earlier...I'm sorry, hope you can forgive me.

We were robbed of our championship at the state fair. I'm so angry about it I really don't even want to talk about it.

I went to Grand Forks to sign my lease and then hung out at my friends lake cabin for the rest of the week. I come back and play dodgeball at the Rose Games and our team takes First place, not that i'm surprised or anything. But the biggest dodgeball tournament of the year is the 21st at State. So posting will continue to be light until I get settled and most of my stuff packed.

So the "deutschers" shot and killed a bear that was roaming around killing sheep and rabbits. Naturally every animal rights activist and their dog are out in protest of this "senseless killing." One group even stated they were considering "Legal Action," what the fuck is that?

The killing of livestock(the sheep to you douches) is always a huge deal, that alone justifies the slaughter of this bear, he probably deserved it anyway. Do I need to bring up "The Grizzly Man"? He lived and loved the bears, what happened to him...well...you can figure it out, just look below.

I don't get the environmentalists, why don't they just wear a giant sign that says

I think that's a little more accurate that Tom Clancy intended. While it's fiction, sometimes I wonder, especially when a man receives death threats for ordering the killing of a bear that was obviously pillaging local farms.

Pathetic, now if you excuse me, I'm going to have about 5 steaks but only eat 2, just to piss off some animal rights activist even more.

I'm finally getting caught up on reading my blogroll again. Hooray for me, but I have to start packing and getting ready for tournaments in the coming weeks, so I'll probably get behind again.

But it's a good thing I checked out one of my favorites (The Dick List). Because they had the post to end all posts, WHY SOCCER SUCKS. Since there wasn't a permalink that I could find to link directly to it i'll post it in it's entirety below, If you don't read The Dick List everyday, you're simply not american. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

As I watched the Americans put out of their misery in Germany on Thursday, I was left with a dejected feeling.I was not dejected at the loss; In my days I've seen much bigger wins (Game 6, 1996 World Series) and massively crushing defeats (Game 7, 2001 World Series). From experiencing the pinnacles of success and the depths of defeat through my beloved New York Yankees, I've learned to never get too exited over a win and never get too down over a loss. After all, sports are just a game; a diversion to keep your mind from the banality of everyday life.

No, I felt dejected because after watching the USA lose to Ghana, I felt gyped, robbed, and hustled. I felt cheated, much like when I went to see Independence Day in the movie theatre and realized it was the most terrible piece of shit I'd ever seen.

One could say, if they were so inclined, that the United States was cheated because of the bogus penalty kick awarded Ghana at the end of the first half. And, while it is a bit arbitrary and idiotic to basically award a team a goal (lets face it, that's what a penalty kick is) if there's any contact in 'the box' in a game where a score of 2-1 is considered a shootout, that's not the reason why I felt cheated.

I felt cheated because soccer is so fucking gay that it makes me sick. I felt cheated because the world's game is not a game for men, but a game for effeminate pussies. I felt cheated because soccer is played by a bunch of overgrown fags, who don't even deserve to be called 'athletes' in the sense that the word is used for even for WNBA players.

Tough words? Let me explain....

In no other sport I'm familiar with does a grown man roll around on the ground and cry like a dumped fifteen-year-old bitch if he's fouled. Now before I start to get the 'you don't understand....' protest from our English friends, let me state it very well: I do understand. Soccer players dive because it gets calls. It gets cards, it gets attention. It even gives them a little time to rest. I played soccer in high school; I saw it all the time and I know how the sport functions.

That being said, its a fucking travesty that these theatrics have become an accepted part of the world's game. What ever happened to being a real man? What ever happened to having pride in yourself? What ever happened to "Hey you fucking pussy, walk it off!"?

These fucks need only brush into one another and they flop to the ground grimacing in pain like someone just put a .50 caliber sniper round through their hamstring. Meanwhile, all the commercials show long-haired half-men like Ronaldinho, Kaka, and PuPu prancing around like fucking tinkerbell with their bicycle kicks and their leaping headers. The reality is Kaka, PuPu and 'Fred' (what a fucking name, huh?) writhing in the grass like someone just rubbed hot sand on their vagina.

Its fucking absurd, and more than a little gay.

How can any true man play this sport? How can anyone who considers themselves a man prostitute their dignity and masculinity in full public view so that the ref gives them a call? How can the world watch this crap and not be as pissed of as I am at these soccer bitches have made a mockery out of manhood?

I've seen a baseball pitcher break his arm mid-throw and calmly walk off the mound, knowing his entire career is probably over. I've seen American football players snap limbs like twigs, yet put on a brave face as they are carted from the field. Shit, I've seen a young ice hockey player break his neck on a hard check and later skate off the ice under his own two legs , and I've seen Rugby players with their teeth knocked clean out who don't even leave the game!

One thing's clear: in a man's sport, if you leave the game on a stretcher you aren't coming back- unlike Claudio Reyna who was taken off by medics and came back later in the game (fucking disgrace!).

In that its played by a bunch of theatrical half-men, soccer in its current form is the perfect sport for continental Europe and places like Brazil and Argentina. I suppose in these places it is not frowned upon for a man to act like a little girl if it helps him get ahead (I haven't watched the EPL much recently, but I hope and suspect the English tolerate less diving than the others), which is probably why they have such a strong love for the United Nations (which is the bureaucratic equivalent of a large, menstruating vagina).

As a matter of fact, I feel I'm being too hard on women in this post by comparing soccer players to them. Don't get me wrong, I'm the last person who would be a fan that P.C. sham league of lesbians called the WNBA, but I've never seen Shamika Holdsclaw fall to the court wincing like she'd been shot after a foul. No, women are not even as pussy as soccer players.

For soccer to ever appeal to Americans, the answer is clear: it must grow a pair of fucking balls. I don't care what Europe does and I don't care what they do in South America, children in the United States should be taught never to dive and never to roll around like a fucking bitch. American children should be taught to play virile sports, where if you're hit or hurt you pull yourself back up and keep running until you can't run anymore, and if the ref calls a foul or not, its all the same. No wincing, no writhing, no wailing in 'pain'.

After all, its more important to maintain your honor and dignity as a true man than win some stupid game or some dumb trophy that is utterly meaningless in the long run.

I was at Best Buy the other day and noticed they had begun selling HD-DVDs. I thought, what's the point? The player isn't even out yet! Low and behold to my right was an LCD running an HD-DVD movie.

I've never been so unimpressed in my life.

Honest to god my HD pumps out a BETTER picture than that pile of HD. You'd think Best Buy would put out the best TV possible to try to sell as many units as possible. I guess that's to smart. On top of that the movies are 30 big ones a piece. So the only real advantage is that there's more space for data on an HD-Disc. Blu-Ray better be better than this. Especially since Blu-Ray is rumored to be more expensive.

So this pilot has a heart attack, mid flight, and lands the plane on highway, whilst having said heart attack. The plane hit a fence and the passengers were unscathed. Sadly though the pilot was pronounced dead at the local hospital.

Do Spam servers ever get DOS attacked and viruses sent at them? Because if some hacker did, he should be forgiven for his crimes. No matter what.

I've lost hundred of hours of my life filtering through mountains of spam, lost dozens of personal e-mails thanks to the "Empty" button trying to get rid of the 4873 messages. Have you ever gone to a site and had it taken over by a gigantic flash ad that doesnt allow you to click anything? You search desperately for the "CLOSE X" on it but doesn't appear until after the ad is over. To hell with them, honestly.

I really don't hate anyone, but I hate, HATE telemarketers and spammers. "But it's the only job I can find that pays so well. I have kids to feed." Well your kids can Fuckin starve, eat shit and die spammers.

College blows, but work sucks

Jarhead John addressed an important issue below. I'm not posting very often. Not now anyway. I was planning a new post to explain why, and when I say planning I mean putting off, so I felt compelled to write this post.

There's a number of reasons...

A) I don't feel like it.
B) I feel I don't know enough about an event to contribute.
C) I prefer longer more infrequent posts, than short micro-posts on a daily basis.
D) I still don't feel like it.
E) Current events in my life.

I'm just finishing my first year of college. I got my ass whipped by finals, well, A final. But suffice to say i've been quite busy as of late. Oh but I do have good news

I've been approved for a Class 1 Flight certificate.

Yea that's right, i'll be in the friendly skies pretty damn soon, so tremble. But i've been ripping my hair out trying to sign up for my Flight classes at UND. I think Amy and Sharon know me everytime I call. Until I get the star shaped blocks in the star shaped hole and the triangle blocks in the triangle hole posting will be light. You'll have to forgive me and bear with me.

E3 2006 thoughts (nintendo suxorz)

Politics, movies, games, and the occasional babe, that's what this blog is all about. But seriously, E3 pissed me off.

Microsoft-
Gears of War and Halo 3 were awesome. So ended Microsofts reign of cool. Everything was else was a little, how do we say...less than spectacular. Oh sure FEAR was cool, and Battlefield 2142 will be sweet. Other than that though there is little to get excited about. It seems Microsoft turned into a short little fizzle in the E3 buzz surrounded by "Wii" and PS3 info. Oh, one more thing, WHERE THE HELL ARE MY HDMI/DVI CABLES!?!?!

Sony-
PS3, as expected, blew the competition away with a some In-Game screen shots (FINALLY). However a lot of experts are criticising the PS3's Asymmetrical development system (Though to make games). Also while the PS3 pumped out some awesome shit, I felt that it was only slightly better than the 360 (25% better). For $200 dollars more though? At least sony is allowing HDMI/DVI with that system...fucking microsoft.

Nintendo (assholes)-
I fucking hate nintendo. It's happened at every single E3 since the first one so many years ago. There's a lot of hype about THE SAME GAME as the last generation, everyone says how great random mario/zelda game is, then nothing. Nintendo remakes the same 3 games every system, releases only 1, maybe 2, every generation. Than a bunch of shit for filler. It wouldn't be so bad if Nintend wasn't Lauded for their "Innovation." I've broken down nintendos "Innovation" with a helpful graph below.

As you can see, the people at Nintendo are douchebags. It's not that they're re-creating the same game thats bad, it's fine. Every one of those games i've played, and they're awesome. Zelda happens to be one of my favroties. But it's the fact that every time they make another they pat themselves on the back and act like they've just invented the wheel. Sony and Microsoft make sequels and recreations all the time. However they never start screaming how great they are and how innovative they can be, they actually call them just that, sequels. "Innovative," I've heard that word so many times its pissing me off. The only innovators at E3 were Microsoft and Sony. Nintendo isn't even going HD with this generation. Yea, you read that right, no HD support at all. It's like they're trying to go backwards with their technology. I've also compiled another comparison below.

Processing and graphics output compared to previous generation.

PS3- 100x better than PS2
360- 80x better than xbox
Wii- 1.5x better than GC.

Yea, that's 1 POINT 5. Way to raise the bar Nintendo. I kind of wish I made those numbers up, but no, those are solid educated estimates (The 360 really is 80 though). I even heard this in an interview, no BS.

Congrats Nintendo, you beat a competitors obsolete product. I bet your audio capabalities are even more powerful than those of the legendary 8-track. You've got some cutting edge shit right there, better hold on tight.

My favorite part of E3 was Sony's press confrence though. They revealed what was under wraps, or "The box". Why it was motion sensitive technology built into the PS3's controller. It was obvious that Sony really didn't care about the technology at all, it was a metaphorical way of saying...

Motion sensitive controllers, whoopty-freaking-do. It's not that great.

A direct stab at nintendo's "Innovation." From what i've read and heard there's still a lot of kinks to work out. It's probably motion activated pre-defined movement. Meaning when the controller movies, it does action A, no matter which way it goes. At least for the tennis game anyway.

Like in the post below, i'm not upset with gas prices "per se." I'm going to keep driving what i'm driving and i'm not changing my habbits. But like anyone else, i'd like to pay less, so....

Gas here was 2.59 a gallon at 69.70 a barrel.

Oil sky rocketed to $74.00 a barrel a few days ago, and literally the same day gas went up to 2.89 a gallon.

Oil has now dropped back to $69.00 a barrel and hovering at $70.00. What am I fucking paying at the pumpt?

Their big excuse? "We have to use the old gas we paid 74.00 a barrel for." Yea, but they could easily raise the price of their 65.00 a barrel as price on the market rose, even though they clearly weren't out. So when gas goes up on the market, they jack up their prices in literally 12 hours. When gas goes down in price, they wait about 2-3 weeks to lower the price. Gas has been this low for about a week now, THEY STILL HAVEN'T LOWERED THEIR PRICE. Despite seeing trucks dropping off new gas almost daily. Fuck those owners, fuck them all, all 2 of them.

Gas prices keep rising and everyone's panties have curled up into a giant "National Panty wad." This probably wouldn't have happened had it not been for a random Non-conservative political party that has been jacking up gas taxes, limiting refinery construction, stopping nuclear power development, and refusing to allow drilling in new areas, I think we know who this organization is. What pisses me off is that they are now screaming at the top of their lungs that Bush is to blame even though they've been putting us in this bind for the past 20 odd years. In fact I remember back in clinton's early second term we were talking about ANWAR (I don't know it, so go to hell) drilling. Most of the class was in agreeance that we need to save the moose of Alaska rather than pump oil. Their biggest point, that it would take 5-10 years for the oil to hit the economy anyway, and since it was well below 1.50 a gallon at this time, that it was unnecessary. I of course brought up the point...

I was in class today and everyone was talking about how gas is so expensive and that everyone is trading their cars in to get a hybrid. What a bunch of fags. Seriously. If you are getting a new car JUST for good gas mileage, you're a "Whore." While it's fine to pick one car over another for better gas mileage, but to pick one vehicle solely based on gas mileage is idiotic, and makes you a "Whore."

Selling your truck or hotrod for a hybrid would definitely make you look like an idiot, especially when everyone sees you, and you did it all for the money, yup, you're a whore.

So lets say you were to sell your 2000 Monte Carlo SS for a 2000 Honda Civic DX. for the sake of better gas mileage. I use this comparisson because Hondas are lauded for their superior gas mileage, and since they're the same year there won't be much technological advantage from one to the other. We're going to compare fuel cost through basic math. Though the Monte gets 21 in the city and the Civic gets 28, they'll both fill up with gas at the same time since both of their tanks are designed to go about 1-2 weeks without needing another fill up. This is true with all vehicles except sports/race cars (Smaller tanks means lighter weight). So whether you drive a diesel truck, or a honda hybrid, if you both fill up on monday, you'll both run out of gas next thursday-friday. Are you following me? Ok, lets go.

The key to this comparison is that they both drive the same amount otherwise it doesn't work. While the monte gets farther on one tank than a honda...

20 mpg X 17 Gallon Tank = 340 Miles

CIVIC
28 mpg X 11.9 Gallon Tank = 333.2 Miles

It turns out my theory on Frequency of fill was right, so bow down to the almighty math genius. In fact it turns out that a Chevrolet V8 Truck fills up far less often than a honda civic, in fact almost half as much. So we're going to adjust our formulas here a little bit... A vehicle drives about 12,000 miles a year. So how many tanks does it take for a vehiclee to go that far (City Average)?

MONTE
12,000 Miles / 340 Miles a tank = 35.3 Fills

CIVIC
12,000 Miles / 333.2 Miles a tank = 36.01 Fills

SILVERADO 2500
12,000 Miles / 510 Miles a tank = 23.5 Fills

Which is how many gallons of gasoline?

MONTE
35.3 Tanks X 17 gallons = 600.1 gallons of gas a year

CIVIC
36.01 Tanks X 11.9 gallons = 428.5 gallos of gas a year

SILVERADO 2500
23.5 Tanks X 34 gallons = 799 gallons of gas a year

so what did we find out from all this BS? Why it's obvious, the costs of being on of the following at 2.85 a gallon...

A Whore (Civic) = 1221.23 a year

Cool (Monte) = 1710.29 a year

A PIMP (Silverado) = 2277.15 a year

So in the end you save yourself about $490 a year, would you rather pocket the cash and drive this?

Lt. Spears and his men need to hook up with I Company to find out what their strength and plan is. They're only about 1/2 a block away, but within that block, in open ground, are 2 german artillery crews, a panzer IV and about 50 german armored infantry. They could barely peek around the corner without a hail of lead coming their way. So what does Lt Spears decide to do? I really like my site meter. It gives me detailed information as to who is visiting my site, how they got here, and how long they stayed and what pages they viewed. It's pretty cool to say the least, but at the same time it creeps me out. Specifically the people who got here, some went to google and searched for "Cashins Rants" or "Cashins comments." Thats all well and good, I see my uncle from Michigan came across my site this way. But then there's a few who I have no idea who they are, I don't know anyone in San Francisco, so why are they looking for me?! Its crazy. I think they're trying to kill me, perhaps there's a serial killer that strikes bloggers and i'm his next target?

Or perhaps i'm just so damn cool people are starting to google me. Only time will tell.

I tossed and turned all night the other night, because I was in such agonizing pain I had an incredible 0 hours of sleep. The Pain? a sharp stabbing pain in the upper right portion of my chest...whenever I breathed.

So in the morning it was off to the ER.

The Doc came in and let me know I had Sinusitis, with a mild case of Bronchitis. At least those are the terms he kept tossing about. So i'm popping pills and will be MIA from the blogging world, still, until I can breathe normal again, now its off to try to sleep.

What's my blog about? If you were to take a stab in the dark you'd say right-leaning commentary with an entertainment focus. But to be honest I really don't want it to be "about" anything. This is about whatever I damn well say it's about, and that's why I love this form of writing, there's no constraints, so I can put up a muppet personality test in one post and then a serious fisking on foreign policy in the next. I try to be at least some-what entertaining, and my primary goal is to get at least one guy to crack a smile when he reads some of my posts. While the rest of the world freaks out over nothing on one post (Satire, look it up) this one guy could go "That's funny shit," and it'd all be worth while. That ladies and gentlemen is why I write this blog and enjoy doing so. That's why I can write a post on the most bad ass movie moments, EVER. (In No particular order)

-When the Boondock saints fell through the ceiling and took out all the russian mob bosses. While spinning upside down mind you, that's a pair of catholic brothers for ya.

-In Dante's peak when Brosnan drove a chevy suburban...THROUGH A FUCKING RIVER. You were all like "No Way 007, you can't do that" then he emerged from the river, drove up an exploding volcano, jumped a hundred logs and drove over lava, then he drove a metal boat over a lake of acid. All to spite you for doubting him.

-Dawn of the dead, when they were trying to escape the mall, the best buy guy takes a chainsaw and lobs off the legs of the zombies that were climbing on the bus. It wasn't that great, but it was worth it when the Zombies who lost their legs were all like "WTF!?"

-Indiana Jones, Indy shoots the guy whipping the sword around like a badass. This is probably the only time in Hollywood history that a character (Indy) was able to call another character (Sword dude) "Faggot" through body language alone.

-Die Hard, Bruce willis marches across a floor covered in broken glass, what a trooper.

-Jaws, one of the best movie moments period. They're all sitting in the boat, acting like they're fine and invincivle as long as they're in this 40 foot fishing boat. Then Jaws jumps onto the stern and starts chomping shit, it's as if he were saying "THINK AGAIN FUCKERS!" BAD....ASSSSS

-The Outlaw Josey Wales, "This hard rock candy ain't for eating, it's just for holding up to your eye and looking throuh"

-The Patriot, Mel Gibson and his 2 no-doubt psycho kids take out an entire british platoon using only muzzle-loader rifles and a single hatchet. Stick it up your ass King George

-Rambo, I can't even believe I need to explain this, but here goes. Rambo is running from the cops, he jumps off a cliff. Now if that weren't bad ass enough, he grabs a tree and hits every branch on the way down, then we lands on the ground he notices that he's bleeding. SO HE SEWS HIS OWN ARM SHUT!!! wow, total bad ass.

-Saving Private Ryan, the Random private on Omaha Beach picks up his own arm from the corpse strewn beach, then calmly walks away. Dude, that is so badass.

Well look at this, turns out they're working on a Saw 3. I shit you not, turns out it will even be released exactly one year after Saw 2, Halloween Weekend 2006.

You can read up on it here, though I must admit I sensed a Saw 3 coming when they announced Saw 2. I'm just slightly surprised they didnt do a "Matrix" and "Pirates of the Caribbean" thing and film both at the same time. Oh well I suppose.

Coolest game...ever

This has got to be one of the coolest looking games i've ever seen.

Before you click it's a giant of a movie (35 Minutes). So grab a bowl of popcorn and settle down. Though I don't think you'll be needing it as your jaw will be dropped the entire time.

I'm kind of pissed that I found out about the game so early, now I have to wait THAT much longer for it to be released. What's this game about? I can't even begin to describe it, I honestly think it's going to sell a shit load of PC's just so it can run in all its glory (i'm personally buying new RAM just for it). Jolly Rogers, the crisis has begun...

Jolly rogers have we got a crisis.

The entry fee to the mandan league is due this friday, however we only have some $74....

the entry fee is $100

so between the 6 or so Jolly Rogers I need 26 dollars, by thursday, which is when I'll be going to register us. This isn't even taking into account the fact that we need to pay another fee for the U-Mary Tournament on the 26th, which I don't know how much that is. So for the Rogers here's what you'll need to know.

The League starts the 14th of March and is every Tuesday night thereafter, get it off work. I don't know how long it will last as we need to know how many teams are in the league first.

After the league is over there's typically a single elemination tournament the Saturday after the league ends, they did this last year I don't know if they'll do it again.

The U-Mary tourney will be on March 25th, a saturday, I don't know much about the tournament but another team said they'll hook us up with forms and such.

Falcon 4.0 SUCKS

So I finally decided to buy a new combat flight simulator, and I opted for Falcon 4.0, due largely to its praise in reviews and trademark "War" system, that simulates an entire war!!! Sounded pretty damn cool, to bad it sucks.

The game boasts to be one of the most realistic modern combat simulators in existince, i'll acknowldge this. What's fun is the fact that the game throws you into a training mission, without any training. There's no breifing, only a flight path with an altitude scale you're to follow. This is the take off training session, there's no way to know if you've successfully completed the mission, I followed the entire flight path and everything, wingman by my side, tried to land...This is what has become the funnest part of the game, so I was mildy entertained.

I come into hot, prolly around 400kts, heading roughly straight down, we'll say about 260 degrees. Pulled up at the last minute, touched the gear to the tarmac, mission success you'd think? Fuck no, Snapped the front and left landing gear and bent the left wing (Can you guess my angle?). My intent was to see if she'd biff it, which to my surprise it it went airborn again, leaning to the left, but she's pulling up. At this point, I ejected and said to myself "I need to take this game back."

Seriously, one of the most unfunny guys i've ever heard in my life. I had the misfortune of listening to him on the way home from Fargo. I burned a number of stand up acts from comedy central presents onto a disc, including his, making me regret not having an RW disc, so I cant delete it. Woe is me. I kid you not, I was becoming more and more depressed as I listened to the guy.

Have ya seen this crazy new Tundra?

She's a sexy beast. I've always been quite the fan of the Tundra, one of my biggest criticizms of this fangled new Honda pickup is it's inpractical. Like the article details, Toyota is shooting for "True Truckers" to pick up this new machine. While Hondas Ridgeline, is made out for prissy buyers who will never use a truck for it's true purpose in their life. Does anyone know if that "Extra Compartment" in the bed can handle the weight of a full load of cinder blocks or wood on top the door? Just a thought.

After seeing this new Tundra I would like to update my top 10 favorite pick ups.

Last semester I posted a "humorous" image of me raping pre-calc due to my ace. This past week however I had to take 3 tests, all in the same day pretty much. I believe the image below speaks for itself...

Since I lack women in this week's LLO, i'll make it up below. With more cars.

Contrary to popular belief, the car in the Gone in 60 seconds Remake was not a Shelby GT500. It was a heavily modified '67 Stang with a CJ motor in it. I could be mistaken, I know that 6 of the 7 or so cars were '67 Stangs. Does any one know if the 7th one was real or not? That's a real '67 GT500 above. So I want to buy this modified Stang in the first picture. (At the low low price of 55,000) Drop a Croba Jet motor in it, and burn some rice on my local main street. I also want a '73 Mach 1 from the original gone in 60. I was actually |_| that close to getting one for 2000, but that deal fell through. :(

Hell week(s) has(ve) begun. For the next 2 weeks I'm going into work early and on the days I have off to raise money for the upcoming dodgeball tourney in DC. We'll also be holding a fund raiser in the coming days in order to raise money. Rumors abound that we'll be having another tourney where the Rogers DO NOT participate but merely dictate. The Registration fee will be increased and hopefully ads will be run in all the major publications within the state.

If you're interested, well first, Jonny Wiggle has made the biggest mistake of his life short of knocking some chick up, actually that's not as bad as what he did. He declined his invitation to sail with the JR's on their quest for cash and glory in DC. What an idiot. So there's been an opening in positions depending on qualifications. Our current spots hover at about 4, 5 if we raise about 600 dollars. If you have any fund raising Ideas please leave comments below, or better yet make fun of Jon for passing up the only time in all of our lives that was worth living.

DC is dark and black, hidden within is the treasure of glory, and the Jolly Rogers are the light!

LLO week is below, but here's my thoughts on what's been the biggest news day in a while.

ABORTION IS BEING CONTESTED

Holy shit

Lawmakers in two states are proposing broad abortion bans they hope will eventually win approval from a reconfigured, more conservative high court. Legislators elsewhere are seeking to tighten a range of abortion restrictions; one leading liberal advocacy group gave 19 states a failing grade on reproductive rights in a national status report issued Wednesday.

I think the anxiousness of 2 states to ban abortion flat out when Alito hasn't even taken the spot yet, kind of shows where America stands on this abortion issue. I was always against a broad national ban on abortion. I just want my home state of ND to be anti-abortion and i'll be smiling from ear to ear, bring on the ballots, the rest of the country can rip babies arms and legs off whenever they want, just give me ND.
Especially when pro-death eeeerrrrrrr choice groups are figthing legislation that requires minors to have parental consent. Stupid fuckbags, oh THAT'S why i'm conservative.
